University of Central Oklahoma accounting professors Yinghong Zhang, Ph.D., and Edward Walker, Ph.D., CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE,
spoke to the chapter on “The Future of Cost Accounting Education” at the final chapter meeting of the 2017-2018
chapter year held on May 16, 2017




Chapter members enjoyed Vast Restaurant atop the Devon Tower and a presentation by Joe Hendrix,
Senior Wealth Advisor with Mariner Wealth Advisors, on “Goals Based Financial & Estate Planning”
at the chapter meeting on April 19, 2017




Speaker and author Tim Hast captivated the chapter at the meeting on January 17, 2017, with his presentation
“Can You Hear Me?  Why Creating a Culture of Listeners Is Crucial to Healthy Organizations”




Erin Farnsel, Assurance Manager at Ernst & Young in Oklahoma City, gave the chapter an update on
“Final Accounting Guidance and Restatement Themes” at the December 13, 2016, chapter meeting.




In the November 15, 2016, chapter meeting, Linda Clark, founder of Writes on Walls Coaching & Consulting,
explained “The Evolution of Overtime:  FLSA Updates, Changes, Ideas and Discussion.”




Chapter members and guests enjoyed a day learning Excel tips, tricks, and advanced techniques when
Bill Jelen, the celebrated Mr. Excel, brought his “Power Excel” seminar to the chapter on October 26, 2016.




The chapter opened its 2016-2017 series of CPE lunches on September 20, 2016, with a presentation from Rob Teel,
Vice President of Advanced Network Design and IT Director for Oklahoma County, on the threat of ransomware.
